Joseph M. Hekmat

Managing Partner

Joseph Hekmat started the Hekmat Law Group to obtain justice for individuals. He handles wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, and unpaid wage actions as well as many other employment matters.

Joseph Hekmat represents employees who have been wronged in the workplace. His practice includes matters spanning all areas of employee rights law including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and unpaid wage claims. Joseph has been designated as a “Super Lawyer” for the past five years. Prior to that, Thomson Reuters recognized him as a “Rising Star” in the Southern California edition of the annual Super Lawyer directory. This is an honor awarded to no more than two and a half percent of attorneys under the age of forty (or who have practiced for ten years or less) in Southern California each year.

Prior to founding the Hekmat Law Group, Joseph served as General Counsel for Evergreen Financial Holdings, LLC, and its affiliated portfolio of companies in the health care and commercial real estate industries, where a significant portion of his practice was devoted to employment litigation. Joseph began his career as an associate in the litigation department of then named Glaser, Weil, Fink, Jacobs, Howard & Shapiro, LLP. He graduated with honors from Loyola Law School, where he served as Chief Articles Editor of the International and Comparative Law Review and extern to the Honorable Ronald S.W. Lew of the United States District Court, Central District of California. He earned his B.A., with honors, from the University of California, Irvine.

Joseph is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA), the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), the Beverly Hills Bar Association (BHBA), and the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA). He also volunteers on the legal committee of the Jewish National Fund.
